Terry Carter, CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay

TAMPA – August 24, 2020 – The Boys & Girls Club of Tampa Bay have announced the hiring of a new Chief Executive Officer, effective August 17, 2020.

Terry Carter has joined Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay to lead and help foster growth within one of the oldest Boys & Girls Clubs in America that has advocated for and supported over 22,000 children to reach their full potential since 1926. Terry is a proven executive leader having successfully managed operations, sales and shared services functions within large multi-national and private equity owned organizations. He has consistently been recognized for his ability to drive extraordinary results and sustainable improvementsin competitive environments across North America and internationally. Equally important for Terry was his background as a member of the Boys & Girls Club in Nashville, TN, from the ages of 8-11, where he personally benefited from the Club experience. He now resides in and considers Clearwater, FL to be home. 

“Terry brings a wealth of leadership experience and a proven track record for developing high performing teams and achieving financial success,” said John Tomlin, Boys and Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay Board Chairman. 

Terry attended Middle Tennessee State University, earning a Bachelor of Business Management. He also earned an Executive sponsored Master’s Certificate of Achievement from Duquesne University-John F. Donahue Graduate School of Business. His professional career includes leadership roles in organizations including FedEx, DHL, and, most recently, CEVA Logistics. Terry is inspired to utilize his years of executive leadership to further the cause across the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay to enable all young people to reach their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

I am humbled to be selected for this very important role and I look forward to engaging our community, working with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay’s team, including the staff and Board, to advocate for and make great things happen for all young people. 

As a youth I personally benefited from the Club experience in the development of my social skills, sense of selfworth, purpose, and belonging, in addition to a life-long friendship that I enjoy today. Words alone cannot describe the impact the Boys & Girls Club had on me as a youth.” 

The search process was conducted over several months by Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s CEO Search Team, in partnership with a Search Committee led by BGCTB board member Chris Roederer, and other dedicated board members. 

Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay has provided an unprecedented service supporting local children, due to the absence of structure that traditional school and summer camps were able to provide, due to COVID-19.
