Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay know that increasing kids’ healthy habits will strengthen their ability to interact positively with others and form healthy relationships. Programs including Triple Play, SMART Moves and Passport to Manhood promote not only healthy eating and exercise but also self-esteem, self-care, tools for good mental health and making smart choices in life.
Triple Play is a program aimed to improve Club Members’ knowledge of healthy habits; increase the number of hours per day they participate in physical activities; and strengthen their ability to interact positively with others and engage in positive relationships. The program offers a holistic approach with the key areas of focus:
Mind: Develops a knowledge base for Club Members to acquire healthy habits, such as making smart food choices, understanding appropriate portion sizes and creating fun and balanced meals.
Body: Promotes Club Members to become more physically active through fun daily fitness, including activities to get them active and moving.
Soul: Strengthens interpersonal skills, positive behavior and good character through social recreation programs and activities.
Ages 11-14
Passport to Manhood teaches responsibility to boys ages 11 to 14 with sessions that focus on a specific aspect of character and manhood through highly interactive activities.
Ages 5-15
SMART Moves utilizes a health promotion approach which is focused on building youth’s attitudes and skills that support healthy decision-making.
Ages 8-17
SMART Girls provides health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement for girls ages 8 to 17.
CyberSafety
Ages 11-13
CyberSafety is a cyberbullying awareness and prevention program, providing youth with the knowledge and skills necessary to create and promote a civil, safe online culture.
Healthy Habits
Ages 5-15
Healthy Habits emphasize good nutrition, regular physical activity, and improved overall well-being.
