TAMPA – (March 25, 2019) – Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay opened the doors of a new Club serving the youth and their families in Temple Terrace. The Sam & Laurice Hachem Foundation Temple Terrace Boys & Girls Club is located at 7701 Temple Terrace Highway in Temple Terrace, FL.
This Club is the seventh operating under a community collaboration model. Hillsborough Parks & Recreation, Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay and The City of Temple Terrace joined forces to bring the vision of this Club to reality. This beacon center will operate in collaboration with The Temple Terrace Police Department offering daily presence of a law enforcement mentor, a model Boys & Girls Clubs uses in six other Clubs partnering with The Hillsborough County Sheriffs Office. The Chief of Police for Temple Terrace, Ken Albano says “This Club is such a blessing for the families and community of Temple Terrace. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work with youth in our community in a positive and impactful way.”
This new Club will serve youth ages 5-18 and has capacity to serve 100 youth. President and CEO Chris Letsos said “Opening the Sam & Laurice Hachem Foundation Club is a critical step in providing quality out of school support to youth in Temple Terrace.” Letsos added “This Club will serve as a source of hope to a neighborhood struggling with academic progression, poverty and juvenile crime.” The Club is now open and serving youth afterschool and during the summer.
The Club will host plenty of outdoor space, a playground and a newly designed US Soccer court thanks to the generosity of Target and US Soccer.
