Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay to begin construction on Wimauma Club in Bethune Park

TAMPA – (May 31, 2019) – This summer, Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay will begin construction on the Club located at 5809 Edina Street in Bethune Park. The Club currently serves approximately 75 youth from the community. 

The construction project will add an additional 3,000 square feet to the existing building. Once complete, the space will be modernized and retrofitted to allow for programming Boys & Girls Clubs is known for as well as serve more youth from the community. Additionally, the construction will also add a Hillsborough County Sheriff Substation to the building. These improvements will allow the Club to provide the critical programming around academic progression, health & wellness as well as character & leadership. The addition of the HCSO substation will further expand on the Boys & Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay model creating community collaboratives, a place where the community sees law enforcement as a mentor. 

During construction, the Club will continue to serve existing members on campus at Wimauma Elementary School in space generously provided by Hillsborough County Public Schools. 

The park will remain open to the public during the construction.
